Description

Two part trocar/canula. A trocar is defined as a surgical instrument consisting of a perforator or stylet enclosed in a metal tube or cannula, used for withdrawing fluid from a cavity, as in dropsy, etc. (OED)

The blade and its sheath were inserted between two particular ribs and the blade is then withdrawn leaving the sheath as a funnel
