Iron tongs with curved blades.

Context

In the early 18th century both men and women wore wigs, featuring a cascade of curlings down to the shoulders.. The late eighteenth century was associated with wigs styled short on the sides and top, and longer at the back. This practice was initiated by King Louis XIII of France who wore a hairpiece due to premature balding.
