Description

A wooden instrument with a leather wrist band from the handle, at one end and a heavy oval wooden ball on a leather covered rope at the other. The junction between the rope and the handle has a metal clasp. The wooden handle often carved from fruitwood.

Context

An essential for a Victorian gamekeeper, as a deterrent to poachers.
