Funeral Cart 1878 from Headington Cemetery, Oxford

Context

This cart is known as a coach built ''funeral Bier'' carriage and in its time, was used to carry the coffins of the poor that couldn''t afford the luxury of a horse drawn carriage. This Funeral Cart made in 1878 by Lyne & Son Stratford-upon-Avon. Used at Headington Cemetery, Oxford and donated by Bernard Stone.
