James Calder & Co. (Brewers) Ltd, Shore Brewery, Whins Road, Alloa, Clackmannanshire Brewery built 1816 by John McNellan and was acquired by James Calder in 1862. Registered 1905 as James Calder & Co.(Alloa) Ltd. Re-registered as above in 1920. Brewing ceased in 1921 and beer was supplied by Archibald Arrol & Sons Ltd until 1951 when John Jeffrey & Co. Ltd. brewed for them after the conversion of the Alloa Brewery into a lager only plant. Acquired by Northern Breweries of Great Britain Ltd in 1960, and brewing ceased. The original Shore Brewery has been demolished.Category
