Small boot for small horse or pony

Context

Up to the 19th century lawns were cut with scythes or grazed by sheep. In May 1830 Edwin Beard Budding patented ‘a new combination and application of machinery for the purpose of cropping or shearing the vegetable surface of lawns, grass-plats and pleasure grounds’. From here on the progress of lawn-mowers was rapid, moving from manual, to steam to petrol in the 1900s. The first pony-drawn machine was patented in 1842 and shoes were designed to prevent too much hoof damage to the lawns
