Description

A Model of the Stirling * locomotive that operated on the LNER routes to Scotland. Loaned to the Museum by Peter Watson (a member of the school of Philosophy at Waterperry)

Context

This model is of the Stirling 8 single locomotive which ran on the Great Northern railway around 1880 / 1890. The model took 12 years to make and is on a 5” gauge. It originally ran on coal, but latterly converted to run on paraffin.
