English Brass Alcoholmeter Ebulliometer by Joseph Long C1910

Context

This antique brass alcoholmeter or ebulliometer, is by Joseph Long, London, circa 1910. It is a Manley's Patent type, with burner, chamber, and specific gravity thermometer. It is signed "Sole Maker, Joseph Long, London". It measures 18 inches high.Manley's Patent, No. 20,165, for "Improvements in Alcoholmeters" was awarded in 1901. Joseph Long (established in 1818) operated at 43 Eastcheap, in the City of London proper, from 1885-1936 as makers of hydrometers, saccharometers, and similar instruments.
