Description

Wooden, brass and marble apothecary's table top pill machine or slab, in two parts, with size and number inscriptions. The machine is specifically made to sit on the edge of a square fronted table. The marble is used for preparation. There is also a drawer (at the bottom of the photo) for collecting the pills.

Context

This is probably from a chemist's or apothecary's shop. A commercial and probably later version of item 2025.1.600. (Many thanks to Dr Adam Bowett for the observation).
