Description

French curved oval brass water holder, with the stopper illustrating the makers mark - "VG". The remnants of two eyelets are visible along the top of the warmer.

Context

This 19th century warmer is French and may have been used in the military for medical purposes. The hooks imply that the warmer could have been attached to the body. Another use could have been whilst hunting, in which it would be strapped or hung to the body and kept close to the body under a waistcoat.
