Description

Glove stretcher. The rounded tips were inserted into the finger of a glove and then the two handles squeezed together, so that the tips opened up. Most commonly they were made of wood, this pair however, is made of bone.

Context

A pair of glove stretchers would have been essential to every Victorian household as gloves, for men and women, were a very important part of dress code - it being inappropriate not to wear them.
