Context

Arnold, Perrett & Co. Ltd, High Street and Station Road, Wickwar, Gloucestershire Listed in 1800 as Thomas Arnold, who died in 1853. The business was continued by his son Thomas Jnr and son-in-law Thomas Halsey, trading as Arnold & Co. Halsey became a partner in 1876 and in 1884 control passed to his sons Arnold and William. Registered as Arnold & Co Ltd in June 1886 to acquire Arnold & Co and E & B Trimmer (Gloucester). A new brewery was built near the station to replace 34 High Street. In 1887, they merged with H & A Perrett’s Bournstream Brewery of Wotton-under-Edge and registered as above, with 325 tied houses. James & Henry Hill's Sun Brewery, Gloucester was acquired in 1889. The Tewkesbury Brewery Co. Ltd was acquired in 1896. Merged with the Cheltenham Original Brewery Co. Ltd in 1924, and brewing ceased. The premises were used as a cider factory until 1969-1970, and the buildings are extant. The modern Wickwar Brewing Company occupies part of the Arnold, Perrett premises. Source Breweryhistory.com
