Description

Rubber boots for sheep.

Context

Sheep are prone to many problems with their hooves and keeping them trimmed and checked for disease is important. Sheep grazing on high, dryer and stonier ground are less likely to suffer from as many potential diseases of which there are many - some serious. The history of Dunlop boot starts in 1888 when John Boyd, a Scottish veterinarian, invented the pneumatic tyre. In 1927 he designed the rubber boot and in 1936 he designed two kinds of rubbers boots for sheep - one with the wrap around fastening (illustrated) for 2s 11d and one with a zip closure for 3s 6d.
