Wheat straw and wheat ear plaited lantern shape. Similar to the construction of a 'neck' but halved in length. Elaborate plaiting for suspending the lantern.
Context
The worldwide construction of corn dollies is reflected in the Norfolk Lantern - similar designs are made in Guatemala and Greece but represent bells. The Greek lantern has tassels rather than a bunched wheat ear finished at the base.
