Description

Wood and metal mouse trap, with mirror.

Context

The advertisers of this strap suggested that when the mouse approaches the trap to eat the bait and sees another mouse in the mirror it encourages it to take the bait from the bait hook. The first 'snap trap' was patented in the USA in1894 - the availability of strong miniature helical springs made it possible. It is still the best designed and most popular mouse trap today because it is easy to set, easy to manufacture and its upper surface can be used to promote sales. This mouse could be approximately 100 - 120 years old.
