Description

Small working model of a winnower with drawer to catch seeds.

Context

Made by J Cooch of Harlestone, Northants, 1847. The firm of Cooch & Sons was established in 1800 by Joshua Cooch, who patented a seed dressing machine. The firm remained in the family for 174 years and only finally closed in 1974. They had the ability to develop and design machinery for the new agricultural market which was seeking more efficient ways to produce more produce.
