Tennant Brothers Ltd, Exchange Brewery, Bridge Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
The first Exchange Brewery was established in 1820 on the site of what is now Market Place, trading as Proctor & Co. Acquired by Edward and Robert Tennant in 1840, and they were joined by Thomas More in 1843. A new brewery at Lady's Bridge was built by 1853. The company was registered on 1st July 1882.
Acquired by Whitbread & Co. Ltd in 1961 with 700 tied houses to become Whitbread East Pennines. Whitbreads closed the brewery in 1993. Buildings remain, mostly converted to officesAcquisition
