Description

Metal bottle dynamo, with clamp to fasten to the bicycle fork. The corrugated rubber wheel touches the side of the bicycle wheel and the energy generated by the revolution of the tyre creates electricity to power front and rear lights. The internal mechanism means that the dynamo’s roller spins, driving the internal magnet and coil to produce alternating current (AC). The energy produced is approximately 3 watts or 6 volts, the standard for bicycle lighting.

Context

Lucas, the well-known British manufacturer historically associated with automotive and motorcycle lighting, also produced bicycle dynamos like this Model CD 18; 75052. Above the clasp on the side is the no. 750345 and on the circular tab is the well-known Lucas emblem with the wheel, lion and flame.
