Shoemaker's Puff Stick

Entry/Object ID

Description

Shaped wooden stick, to be held at one end and tailored to a gentle point at the other.

Context

A 'toe-puff' was introduced into the construction of the toe, especially of a boot (first mentioned 1985) - it is a layer of stiffening. If the toe-cap appears irregular when it comes off the last, the stick is used to push the toe-cap forward from the inside.
