THE WAUPUN LEADER-NEWS - Waupun Memorial Hospital Edition---1951 This is a special edition for the opening of the Waupun Memorial Hospital July 1951. Section one has a photo of the hospital complete except for final landscaping of the grounds. It is located at the corner of West Brown and Beaver Dam streets and overlooks the West End Park. Kiley, Archbishop of the Milwaukee Archdiocese, to Bless Hospital on the morning of Thursday, July 5, 1951. Each room in the hospital will be visited and blessed by the Archbishop. Following the blessing, a low mass will be said at 10 a.m. in the hospital chapel, with Reverend Ignatius Hanley, O.F.M. Conv., as celebrant. Members of the Waupun Hospital committee and their wives, physicians who are staff members at the hospital, and their wives, have been invited to attend the mass. The guests will be taken on a tour of the hospital following the mass, and will be quests at a 12 o'clock luncheon in the hospital cafeteria. Open House Planned - Other residents of Waupun and the surrounding community are invited to visit the hospital Thursday afternoon, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The hospital will be open to visitors from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 6, 7, and 8. No visitors will be admitted after 9 p.m. Sunday. The hospital will begin receiving patients sometime during the following week. The inscription is as follows: WAUPUN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL * ERECTED BY THE SCHOOL SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS, THE CITY OF WAUPUN. THE TOWN OF ALTO AND CHESTER AND THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF WAUPUN AND THE TOWNS OF ALTO, CHESTER, TRENTON AND WAUPUN, IN TRIBUTE TO THE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN OF BOTH WORLD WARS, AND THE IDEALS FOR WHICH THEY FOUGHT AND DIED, FOR THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF THE SICK, WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, COLOR OR CREED. A.D. 1951 William A. Lother, Mayor, City of Waupun, states that opening of Hospital is Waupun Milestone. Hutter Construction laid first cornerstone in1878; famous as Hospital Builders; construction company that erected the Waupun Memorial Hospital in 1951. George F. Hutter is president and general manager of the Hutter Construction company. Born in Mt. Calvary. Father was Joseph Hutter.
