Thirty years ago, in July of 1946, the Christian Home Association had its first beginnings when a not-for-profit corporation of Dutch Christian Reformed and Reformed Churches was set up to provide a home for the aged. . .
Then, as now, the management of the Corporation was vested in a Board of Directors selected from the membership of participating churches. These include churches in Waupun, Randolph, Brandon and Cambria.
Through generous contributions and diligent efforts of many people, the Christian Home for the Aged opened its doors in 1954, wit a capacity for 18 residents. The first addition was built in 1956, and at an Open House held on September 13, 1956, over 140 visitors toured the facility.
The infirmary section, to serve those residents needing nursing care, was completed in 1964, and four apartments designed for semi-independent living were added in 1966. Currently the Home is caring for 56 residents and the staff of 58 full-time and part-time employees includes, beside the Administrator, two R.N.s; four L.P.N.s; nursing assistants; a social worker and activities director; a food service supervisor; dietary, laundry housekeeping and maintenance personnel, and a consultant dietician.
The Christian Home is fortunate in having an active auxillary which provides services to the residents through various fund raising and supportive programs. Community involvement within the facility is encouraged, and volunteers play a significant role as they help to maintain the wide range of activities provided for the residents.
