Distinguished Service. The notion that Wisconsin's Univeristy is the servant of every Wisconsin citizen - that the "boundaries of the university are the boundaries of the state" - is perhaps the noblest ideal of Wisconsin's Progressive Era. The implementation of that ideal has been the work of the Extension Division of the University of Wisconsin since Extension's organization in 1906. and of the University of Wisconsin-Extension in cooperation with all 26 UW Univeristies and Colleges since 1965.
