John Burke Joins American Movie Classics As Daytime Host from the AMC Press Release July 30, 1999 JOHN BURKE JOINS AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS AS NEW DAYTIME HOST BETHPAGE, NY, July 30, 1999 D As of August 1st, ardent classic movie fan and television personality John Burke will become AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS' new day time host, it was announced today by Noreen O'Loughlin, AMC Executive Vice President and General Manager. Burke assumes the duties of Nick Clooney, who departed the network at the end of July. Bob Dorian, hailed by a wide variety of critics as one of television's most popular personalities, remains with the network as AMC's prime time host. Burke will introduce films on the network Monday through Sunday from 1:00 PM D 8:00 PM ET. In addition, he will host "Behind the Screen," the popular weekly series that airs on Sundays at 7:30 PM. Burke is an accomplished television personality and actor. Prior to joining AMC, Burke was co-host of the FX series "Personal FX: The Collectibles Show," and "The Supercollectors." He also served as the co-host of the Disney series, "Countdown At The Neon Armadillo" and hosted "The Great Race," a special live event, for The History Channel. Burke has appeared in a wide assortment of television shows and feature films including leading roles in DISCOVER YOUR OWN SONG, LAST CHANCE and THE GAME.
