Historical information on Ehlert Appliances for 1976 Bicentennial Celebration in Waupun, WI *NOTE: Spelling errors are left just as originally typed. EHLERT APPLIANCES, 703 S . WATERTOWN ST., PHONE: 414-324-5081, WAUPUN, WIS. 53963 The land where Ehlert Appliances, Ehlert Wood Products and The Launderette now stand was purchased by Lee and Betty Tourtellotte in 1947. On July 4, 1949 they moved into the house and 3 car shop. They sold Speed Queen appliances and farm impliments. Case machinery. In 1955 they built store and repair shop. In 1959 they sold out the Case machinery and sold Speed Queen and Kelvinator appliances. In 1960 they started the Launderette with 4 washers and 4 dryers. They changed to 3 commercial dryers and 12 washers in 1961. In 1963 they added an additional 8 washers and 5 commercial dryers. Lee taught vocational school to men and women in the repair shop. He taught deisel and propane engine classes. In August 1, 1975 they sold out to Ken and Bonnie Ehlert. Ehlert Wood Products started in John Howard's barn on Frontage Road in Oct. 1971. George and Kenneth Ehlert were partners. Kenneth bought out George in May 1973. On August 1, 1975 Ehlert Wood Products was moved to 703 S. Watertown. We do all kinds of carpenter work, new and remodeling. We specialize in kitchen cabinets, picture frames and anything made out of wood. Ehlert Appliances has stayed with Speed Queen and Kelvinator appliances. We carry a full line and service everything we sell.
