Electri-Wire Corporation
The Electri-Wire Corporation, based in Milwaukee, has chosen to expand their operation in Waupun and opened their production in the former Wisconsin Shoe building at 208 S. West Street
on August 15, 1974.
The Company, privately owned, with Richard Gallun, the prinicpal stock holder will produce electrical cords in this plant.
The firm produces electrical harnesses and cords used in automotive and electric appliances, primarily in the garden tractor area and various house hold and industrial appliances.
The Industry has grown rapidly in Milwaukee, employs forty persons in half the space available here. The decision was made to move the portable power supply products (cords) to Waupun and continue the production of the harnesses in Milwaukee. Room for expansion was made available by moving the cord production here.
Electri-Wire is a capital goods manufacturing company in that their products are bought by other manufacturers instead of the consumer.
W. T. Granger Corporation and Thomas Industries are two of their largest customers.
Fred Gearing is the plant superintendent and Roger Budnik the manager.
The Industrial Corporation was instrumental in getting Electri-Wire settled here.
The company plans to add employees as production increases and at this time are producing 2,000 cords per day.Acquisition
