Holiday House of Glass
Richard (Dick) and Ruth Fanshaw sold their Fanshaw hardware store at 421 E. Main and bought a store across the street (formerly the self-service dry clearner) and remodeled it into a gift shop, named the Holiday House of Glass. The Fanshaw's spent two months renovatng the charming old building which has housed several businesses, dry clearners, plumbing shop, farm implements, auto agency, and livery stable to name a few. The interior has been extensively remodeled with a lowered ceiling, new paneling, new carpeting, new heating system, new lighting, a new front entrance and a new paint job on the face of the building in a Dutch blue. Five pennants fly from the roof in five different positions.
The Fanshaws carry many brands of exquisite glass and china, as well as plaques, lamps, lamp oil, and sport shots. Dick has a large assortment of pipes and tobacco and he will blend the tobacco of the customer's choice.
To display this tremendous stock, the Fanshaws built 58 cabinets on gliders and 232 sliding panels fit into them. The store features a year round display for each major holiday.Acquisition
