Meenk and Riel Incorporated Meenk's began as an electrical contractor in 1946 with its headquarters in a garage. The business soon expanded with the addition of a heating contracting division. The growth of the business necessitated several moves. It was called Neenk Brothers, and Elton and Roy with help from their families ran it. With the advent of television in 1951, the Company moved into their new store at 410 East Main, where they remained and did business for ten years. In 1961, with growing television sales, the Company bought the store at 412 East Main and removed the wall between them to enlarge the store's television and stereo departments. Wally Riel, Sr. is a long time employee and Wally Jr. is a co-owner with Paul Meenk, the son of Elton Meenk. Paul and Wally bought the business from the elder brother in March 1974 and they are franchised dealers for Whirlpool appliances, RCA television, GE television and appliances, Litton microwave ovens and ranges and Pionier High Fidelity stereo systems. They are also the authorized Philgas bottled gas delivery dealer in the area. Meenks is a certified Tech-Care Service Agency. Today Meenk's is the largest television and appliance center in the Waupun area. In 1976, the name was changed to Meenk & Riel, Inc. They have seven clerks and staff members; each one is responsible for a particular phase of the business. Wally Jr., a co-owner, is in billing, purchasing and advertising. Gerald Ferguson is the Company's television technician. He has been with Meenk's for fourteen years. Wally Riel, $r. 'has been with the Company for fifteen years and he manages the light fixture department and handles the sales of the home electrical supplies and electric wiring. Virginia Kuenzi is a part time clerk and salesperson; she is responsible for receiving of repair and replacement parts. Donna Hartgerink, is the Company's bookkeeper and has been with Meenk's about four years. Paul Meenk is a co-owner with Wally Riel, Jr. and he is the Company's appliance repairman. Dan Rhode delivers the 100# tanks of bottle gas and the lift cyclinders.
