Stoffel Drug - Walgreen Agency
Stoffel Drug, at 401 E. Main, opened it's doors in August, 1976. The new store formerly housing Schultz Bros. located on the corner of Main & Madison had been completely remodeled and is about 3½ times as large as the old store down the street.
An Agency of the Walgreen Drug Company, Stoffel Drugs has 2 full time pharmacists, Jack Stoffel & Jim VanderWerff and a part time pharmacist, Nancy Christian of Beaver Dam, plus a staff of nine women & 2 stock boys. All three pharmacists, are graduates of Univ. Of Wis. at Madison.
After graduation, Jack came to work in Waupun in 1964 for the late Lester Damsteegt who had managed Damsteegt's Drug Store for ......years.
Mr. & Mrs. Stoffel bought Damsteegt's business in 1965 and continued in the same location until they literally out grew the store. In 1972, they bought the corner building, housing Schultz Bros., but due to leases, they didn't start remodeling until Schultz Bros. moved out May 1, 1976.
With the increase in floor space, the new store has expanded all of its departments and added somenew services. Since the variety store is no longer down town, many notion items, sewing needs, yarns, housewares, etc. have been added. There are many gift items for all occasions, plus the regular stock of a modern pharmacy.Acquisition
