Super Valu
Super Valu opened in Waupun in October 1961. The Waupun Auto Sales at 116 E. Main was remodeled for the store and all the buildings west of the store to the corner were removed fro the parking lot.
The store, with a total floor space of 8,900 square feet, had more than 7,000 square feet of selling space and the very latest in dairy and frozen food cases and shelving. It had three checkout counters and carried a full line of meats, fruits, vegetables, dairy products and canned goods.
It had automatic entrance and exit doors and parking for seventy-five cars.
One of the buildings removed was the Star Market, which had been in business many years. Herb Sang had operated the market for twenty-three years before he sold to Clarence Ollerman in 1957.
In.......the building became a Red Owl Store. The building was purchased by Michael Werner and Gerry and Kenneth Harmsen in 1974 and remodeled into a furniture store and they moved across the street from their old store.Acquisition
