Van Galen's Hallmark Shop formerly Christian Book Nook, Ted and Bev Van Galen, Prop.
The shop was purchased in March 1965 from Rev. Ray, Olthof, then pastor of Trinity Reformed Church who had begun the little shop 2 years earlier. It was open 7 days only at the corner of Main and Madison, a former popcorn and ice cream stand. Items sold consisted of books, records, music, gifts, church supplies, Sunday School and VBS curriculum.
In October 1969 the store moved just around the corner to 321 E. Main St, the former Smoke Shop, A Gibson Card line was added and the shop was open full days.
In August 1973 a change was made once more as business continued to grow. The building at 318 E. Main previously occupied by the Gamble Store was vacant and because of the added space this site was chosen. The Hallmark line of cards and sifts was added along with the other supplies and the name changed to Van Galen's Hallmark Shop.
The business was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schregardus on April 1st, 1976.Acquisition
