TO HONOR OUR PEACE DEAD - MEN OF THE USS STARK By June Kelly One by one they carried bodies to rest On the sandy shore; Thirty-six sailors who will sail The seas no more. One was left - asleep in the deep, No body found to bring home. Thirty-six boxes - thirty-six flags And a wreath for one alone. One by one they carried coffins from the plane; Brought them home to be mourned; To be honored - Our War Dead Sailors. No! Not war dead! These young Americans are PEACE dead! Under the wreath, beneath the waves and In thirty-six boxes, under thirty-six flags They lie. And we hold our heads And try to figure out Why.
