Scope and Content

Four page letter of annexation sent to Wisconsin Governor, Tommy G. Thompson from the Waupun Economic Developement Committee. 451.21 CITY # 101 CITY OF WAUPUN COUNTIES OF FOND DU LAC & DODGE Proposal to annex OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE State of Wisconsin Filed April 21, 1989 ________________ "Wild Goose Center of Wisconsin" April 20, 1989 Stamped: State of Wisconsin Received & Filed APR 21 1989 Douglas La Follette Secretary of State City of Waupun 201 E. Main Street, P.O. Box 232 Waupun, Wisconsin 53963-0232 Office of Economic Development Committee Governor Tommy G. Thompson State Capitol, Room 115 E. P.O. Box 7863 Madison, Wis. 53707 Dear Governor Thompson: At the present time, the City of Waupun and the State of Wis. are working out details on the annexation of state lands south of Dodge Correctional Institution to the City of Waupun for the new John C. Burke Correctional Center, soon to be constructed. At this time, we are wondering if the State of Wis. would also consider annexing lands West and South of that parcel, described as Unplatted lands SW 1/4, Section 5, T13N, R15E, in the Town of Chester. This would then involve the entire section abutting County Trunk MM and M, or all of the state owned lands south of Dodge Correctional Institution. Not only would this annexation be for the good of our City, but in the future if the State were to release all or any portions of this land, it would already be in the city limits. Or if the State were to keep the land for their own expansion purposes, again it would be advantageous for it to be inside the city limits for access to public services such as electric, sewer, water, police and fire protection. There is no additional cost to the State for annexing all of this land at this time. Annexing all of this section now could play an important role in the growth of our city or as important a role for the State in consideration of their use or disposal of the land in the future. In no way do we wish to interfere or interrupt the current annexation proceedings for the John C. Burke Correctional Center. It was our feeling that this may be a proper time to consider annexation of this entire section. Sincerely, CITY OF WAUPUN Economic Development Committee Rohn Bishop, Chairman RB:cc Richard Core Thomas Dunn ______________ Gov. Thompson - 2 - 3/30/89 cc: Rep.
