Original Photograph of the Shipman House, an early hotel in Waupun. The back of the photograph, which was attached to an old frame, reads: "This is the Shipman House. Horace O. Shipman and Henry Shipman his Brother Proprietors. Used to be located where "The Waupun Auto Sales Co" is now. Afterwards known as the 'Simpson House' and later as 'Ma Blaindells.' Burned down where the Red Owl is now in 1972." Donation name on back is handwritten and is difficult to make out: Could be "Gertrude T. Rue Maud ?? According to the "History of Waupun: 1839-1939," this building was built in 1886 and was known as the Reynolds House, D. C. Reynolds, prop. "On the site of the Chevrolet garage. After the late '80s, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Blaisdell, known to many as "Ma" and "Pa" Blaisdell, took it over, naming it the Brunswick Hotel." There is no date on the photograph, nor is there a date for the donation.
