Pictures of the C. A. Shaler Co. Plant & Offices after the fire of 4:15 p.m. of March 2, 1922.
"Business was flouishing when the plant was struck by a spectacular fire at about 4:14pm the afternoon of March 2, 1922. It completely destroyed the buildings and most of the machinery and took the lives of three women emplyees. The victims were Bessie Koekoek, Mrs. Howard Carney, and Mrs. Emma Michels. The fire caused an estimated loss of over a half a million dollars."
"SHALER COMPANY FIRE -- MARCH 1922. FIRE LOSS -- 3 lives: Shaler Co., $500,000; Althouse-Wheeler, $20,000; Beucus house, $4,000; other losses, $5,000."
