Shaler, Postcard, Aftermath of the C.A. Shaler Company Fire. One of 13 Black & White picture postcards showing the aftermath of the March 2, 1922 Shaler Co. fire. The fire which struck at about 4:15 p.m. completely destroyed the buildings and most of the machinery and took the lives of three women employees. The victims were Bessie Koekoek, Mrs. Howard Carney, and Mrs. Emma Michels. The fire caused an estimated loss of over a half a million dollars to the Shaler Co. and another $20,000 to the Althouse-Wheeler Co.; $4000 to the neighboring Beucus home, and still another $5000 in other loses.Acquisition
