Wisconsin Jaycettes have seen many years of growth and progress in the State Auxiliary. The first U. S. Jaycee Auxiliary distinction goes to Oshkosh, organized in 1933. At the state convention in May, 1937, Beaver Dam, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Rhinelander, and Wausau representatives of Jaycette chapters met to organize the first state wide Jaycee Auxiliary.
In 1940 the first iron lung was purchased. On April 16, 1941 our state auxiliary was incorporated as a non-profit, non-stock corporation. Four more iron lungs were purchased.
May of 1946 a traveling trophy was presented to the Merit Award Winner. The iron lung fund was turned over to the new Cerebral Palsy Trust Fund. Up to 1967 a total of $69,152.64 has been received into this fund from the local chapters.
The Policy paper and Jaycette Creed were adopted at the December 1957 convention. A state seal and President-Elect system were adopted and the Carol Award was presented for the first time. In 1958 the "Jaycette" name was registered with the Secretary of State. 1960 saw the adoption of Mental Health and Retardation as an educational state project. Tables and chairs were presented to Camp Wawbeek in 1962, and $4400 in 1964 was granted to the camp for a multi-purpose building.
A past state president was elected National Jaycee Liaison in June 1965. For more than 25 years we have taken part in the organization that our husbands and ourselves believe in.
Each local Jaycette chapter is a member of a region. The regions correspond to the Jaycee regions. Two regional meetings are held each year; in the spring and fall. The regional Vice Presidents preside at these meetings. She visits each local chapter during her year of office, and represents the chapters of the region at the state board of directors meetings.
The State officers include: the State President, President-Elect, Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, Parliamentarian, the Regional Vice Presidents, and the Standing Committee Chairman. There are two state meetings held with the Jaycees each year. They are the Mid-Year convention in December and the Annual convention in May. The local chapters participate in the state projects: Cerebral Palsy, Mental Health, and Mental Retardation. In 1967 the Trust Fund became the United Jaycette Fund. The state also provides 2 awards for the chapters: the Merit Award for the outstanding local Jaycette chapter; the second is Citation for Achievement and Recognition for Outstanding Leadership, known as the CAROL Award, which may be presented to any woman between the ages of 21 and 36.
