Stroll the streets of Waupun and see ornate, finely crafted, historic Victorian architecture.
Waupun Historic Architecture Walking Tour Information
1. Waupun City Hall is located at 201 E. Main Street. Built in 1928, it is a Neoclassical building made out of brick. It has a parapet.
2. At 25 S. Forest Street is a Queen Anne Victorian style house with clapboard siding. It was built circa 1888.
3. The United Methodist Church at 199 E. Jefferson Street, a Neo-Gothic Revival church with steeple, was built in 1889. The original siding has been changed.
4. Located at 22 S. Madison Street is the Waupun Historical Museum, the former Carnegie funded Waupun Public Library, an Elizabethan Revival made of cut stone, built in 1904. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
5. The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is a Gothic Revival church located at 215 E. Jefferson Street. It was built in 1871 and has a board and batten exterior.
6. At 118 S. Madison Street is a Queen Anne Victorian house, circa unknown, with clapboard siding and shingles. The architectural features include a turret.
7. An Eastlake Victorian with clapboard siding is located at 126 S. Madison Street. The house was built in 1875. The first owners, Charles and Clara Jones, purchased the house in 1876.
8. A Second Empire house with clapboard siding, tower and turret was built in 1870 at 123 S. Madison Street for the Josiah Drummond Family.
9. At 415 E. Brown Street is a Queen Anne Victorian house built circa 1900. It has clapboard siding and a carriage house.
10. At 128 Carrington Street is a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1892 for the Lucius D. Hinkley Family. The house, which has a turret, originally had clapboard siding. This has been replaced with aluminum siding.
11. A brick Italianate house built in 1880 is located at 111 Carrington Street. It was first owned by the Fuss Family.
12. A Queen Anne Victorian house, circa 1900, is located at 537 E. Brown Street. It has clapboard siding, a turret and is painted in the Victorian Painted Lady style.
13. Built in 1928, at 555 E. Brown Street is an Elizabethan Revival style house made of brick with weeping mortar. It was built for the Hooker Family.
14. A clapboard, Colonial Revival house is at 200 S. Watertown Street. Circa 1900, it was also built for the Hooker Family.
15. At 223 S. Watertown Street is a Queen 15 Anne Victorian with clapboard siding and a turret. It was built for the Garret Te Linde Family in 1896. (Note: #23 on the tour is a mirror image of this house.)
16. Built for the Henry J. Hartgerink Family in 1898, the Queen Anne Victorian house at 228 S. Watertown Street has wood shingles and clapboard siding. It has a turret and a rounded, glass enclosed front porch.
17. Located at 230 Carrington Street is a brick Italianate house built in 1864.
18. At 300 Carrington Street is a Victorian house built circa 1900 for the D. W. Jones Family. It has clapboard siding with fish scale shingles.
19. Built circa 1890, at 327 Carrington Street is a Queen Anne Victorian house with turret. It has clapboard siding. It was built for the Loomans Family.
20. At 340 Carrington Street is an Eastlake Victorian house with clapboard siding, circa 1870's. In 1900, Dr. F. T. Clark purchased the home.
21. Located at 346 Carrington Street is a Queen Anne Victorian house with a turret built in 1885. It has clapboard siding.
22. A painted, cream city brick Italianate house, built circa 1865, is at 515 E. Lincoln Street. It was built for the Levi C. Alger Family. Clapboard and brick additions were built on at later dates.
23. At 500 S. Madison Street is a Queen Anne Victorian house, built in 1895, made of stone with clapboard and has a turret. It was built for the Horatio Hoard Family. A flagstone sidewalk surrounds the house.
24. A Stick style house with Eastlake influence, circa 1887, built for Silas Harris, is located at 624 S. Madison Street. It has clapboard siding and is painted Victorian Painted Lady style.
25. A circa 1885 Italianate house is located at 270 S. Drummond Street. It originally had clapboard siding which has been replaced with vinyl siding.
26. At 200 S. Madison Street is a Gothic Revival prison made from limestone, concrete and steel. It was the first state prison in Wisconsin, built in 1852, and is listed on the National Register of
