Waupun's 125th Jubilee Indian Guest, Page 2 The Chief's first duties will be to pose for photographers beside the famous statue in Shaler Park on July 2. Mr. Beske has assured amateur photographers, who may not be equipped with flash attachments, that artificial light will be available in case the weatherman comes up with a cloudy day. "We plan to start at 10 A.M, to noon and then again from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M., depending upon the Chief's endurance," Mr. Beske commented. Coin collectors will have their opportunity to greet the Chief Friday following a press conference in the bank lobby. Mr. Beske states that a suitable background will be put up in the reception area so that photographers again could take pictures of the Chief. Plans also call for an autographed, full color reproduction of a magazine cover featuring the Chief to be handed out to guests as a souvenir of Johnny Big Tree's visit. The bank's float in the Jubilee parade Saturday will feature the Chief as its main attraction. He will continue to be the guest of the bank until his return trip to his home in New York state. The Chief was taking part in a Wild Blest show in 1912 on Coney Island when he was first noticed by the sculptor and asked to be his model. The Chief turned down the worl, offer until the season was over. From November until April Johnny posed for the face on the nickel during the mornings and the statue in the afternoons. He did not know where or when the statue would appear and it was not until a change of events in the Panama-Pacific More----(see 2007.0007.0006) Found in museum's collection in the file cabinets in office upstairs.
