Chief John Big Tree signature card. On July 1-4, 1964, Waupun celebrated its 125 anniversary. The National Bank of Waupun invited Chief John Big Tree to come to Waupun. Chief John is suppose to be the Native American who posed for James Fraser in the creation of "The End of the Trail" statue. He also is credited with being the nose and center part of the face on the Indian Head Nickel. Chief John signed these cards, for many cards he only signed and indicated an X. On some cards he actually signed his whole name. The card was always witnessed by two workers at the National Bank, in this case Rose Huhndorf and Eleanor Pomplun. See 2007.0007.0009.Acquisition
