Description

Woldseth Christmas Letter, year unknown Dear Friends, May this Christmas season find you at peace - peace within and at peace with your neighbor. I know of nothing more important for our world and for the church to labor for than the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah that "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more..(Isa 2:4)." At this season let us all be reminded Christ comes as the "Prince of Peace". May each of you rejoice and be at peace with God, with yourself, with your neighbor and may the prophesy of Isaiah so grip your hearts that you give of yourselves to work on behalf of that vision. As you know the work of the church has its ups and downs, joys and sorrows, victories and defeats. Nevertheless, I remain grateful to God for calling me to minister the gospel and to the members of Union-Congregational Church for the opportunity to serve in this particular community. Nola still works at The Fox Lake Correctional Institution. Working at a Penal Institution can be extremely discouraging. Nevertheless, God has promised a special blessing for those who visit the sick and imprisoned. George Paul and Jim are both students at The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. George, a junior, is majoring in Criminal Justice. Jim, a freshman, isn't sure yet what he wants. For avocations George runs and Jim plays tennis. David, a high school sophmore, (sp) plays tennis, is active in 4H, church youth, debate, forensics, school plays, choir (school and church), piano and guitar. And he manages to be a good student. After five years of operating a miniture (sp) golf course and concession stand, during the summers, we have now decided to give it up. (A big relief to Nola and myself.) George Paul has worked at Alto Creamery during the summer; now Jim and David will have to look for something else. Last year, after Christmas our entire family visited Nola's parents. Again after the Christmas Eve service we expect to drive to North Carolina. For Thanksgiving Nola, David and myself visited my family in New York. Since it has been a few years since we last visited, this was a special treat. Christmas finds us with ample reason to rejoice - for health, family and friends, opportunities to serve and learn, and above all for the life and peace we have experienced because of the Babe born in Bethlehem. May your Christmas be indeed a blessed one. The Woldseth Family George, Nola, George Jr., Jim and David Peace on Earth, Good will toward men
