Dentistry in Waupun -3-
[To go back a little. In 1896 there was Dr. Albert Johnston of Waupun who took over the practice of Dr. Lyall Stewart. His wife was the former Jessie Gamble, a sister of Mrs. Loomans. The family later moved to the state of Washington. Harry Ferguson was associated in the office with Dr. Johnston for some time. He married Bessie Robbins and they went to Minneapolis.
Some time before 1910 Dr. G. A. Hausman came here following his graduation from Chicago College of Dentistry and opened an office over the Corner Drug store. He served as dentist at the Prison and later at the Central State Hospital, as did many of the Waupun dentists. There were three boys in the Hausman family and the youngest one became associated with his father after graduating from the College of Dentistry of University of Pittsburgh. Robert is now in practice in Seattle. Dr. Hausman came from a family of doctors and dentists. He served as a member of Board of Public Works.
Perhaps some of you will remember that Dr. Faust, husband of Mable Carrington, practiced for a short time over the Gysbers Food Store.
Dr. Herbert Luck and Dr. Walter Amthor, both of Waupun are practicing here. Dr. Egan was with Dr. Amthor for a short time and is now in practice alone in the office of the Waupun Medical Arts Clinic, at State and Washington Streets.
At the prison today there are two full time dentists: Dr. F. Meagher and Dr. D. L. Russell.Acquisition
