CO.F of 135 th Medical Regiment set up Hospitals and camps in Queensland, Australia.
1st. Sgt. Delwin Boom met his future wife while stationed there before his C. O. joined up with the Regiment in New Guinea.
In 1944, Sgt. Boom returned to Brisbane, Australia and proposed marriage to Joy C. Ferguson while on leave from New Guinea. On June 3, 1944, they were married in the Presbyterian Church in Brisbane Australia.
Shortly after Sgt. Boom Returned to New Guinea, then on to Participate in the Liberation of Luzon in the Phelippines----Joy C. Ferguson Boom embarked for the U. S. on June 3, 1945, on the S.S. Lurline,--a journey of 3 weeks to Waupun to reunite with her husband who was discharged from Active Service on May 26, 1945.
