Scope and Content

Ads for Shaler Hot Patches. The ads are approximately 10 1/2" X 14 ". Taken from the July 14, 1928 and the May 10, 1924 Saturday Evening Post. The ads are in color. In the first add, In the background at the top it shows someone lighting a Hot Patch held in a clamp with an intertube. Below is "Cannon Ball Baker" in his "New York" roadster. At the bottom in the middle it shows Shaler Hot Patches. On the left: "The Shaler Company, World's Largest and Oldest Manufacturies of Tire Vulcanizers, General Offices: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Manufacturing Plant: Waupun, Wisconsin, Brancehs: Montreal,Canada .. Beeston, England, Foreign Sales: Shaler Export Corp., 17 Moore St., New York. On the right: Carry a Shaler in Your Car. The Complete outfit - vulcanizer, tire roughener, and a liberal supply of both round and oblong patch units - cost less than one average tankful of gas. Shaler Vulcanizer, complete $1.50, Extra Shaler Patch Units, per can .75. Prices slighly higher in Canada and Far West. In the second ad, the picture shows a gentleman putting a patch on an intertube with his lady friend or wife watching. Under the picture it states "Vulcanize FIRST and make it LAST" under the headline on the right "A Shaler, A Match; Five Minutes, A Patch!" next 2 paragraphs The Sahler 5-Minute Vulcanizer has made vulcanizing easier than sticking on patches--quicker than changing tubes. It is so easy to use that anyone can mend punctures with it. A Shaler heat-vulcanized poatch can not loosen or come off. The repair is welded to the tube, the heat and friction of driving will not weaken it. There is no substitute for the Sahler Vulcanizer for repairing tube punctures, just as there is no substiture for heat vulcanizing in manufacturing tires.
