Photograph, Oliver Lamp. Tale of the Lamp from John Kruesle Rochester MN dated 2004
To whom it may concern– This street lamp was just found this last year when a party who purchased a Dodge County WI 19th century wood framed bldg that was city owned since it was built, purchased it and did inside demolition for use as a beauty parlor.
This street lamp which was one of a few as well as other Pioneer Dietz lamps were put under a stairwell where all of them stayed from aprox. 1900 to now. Thus is a prime example of them with original paint as well as the Oliver Font with its self distinguishing feature- this being that the font would hold only enough kerosene for one evening of burning with its #3 size flat wick burner.
I would advise not to repaint only wipe possibly inside and out w/ thin oil or bees wax to inhibit rust.
Best Regards, I will pass on any additional infro.
John Kruesle
