STRICTLY A MUSIC CLUB--Newsletter, undated. Probably from 1916
The Philharmonic Club of Waupun closed a very successful year under the able direction of Mrs. J. S. Morris, who founded the club and has been its President seven years. It is strictly a "music club."
We have had a splendid Public School Music Day, given at the high school. We had a fine Reciprocity Day and enjoyed a rare treat by talent from other music clubs of the State. We had one Sacred Music Day, have given several public concerts. ONe was given at the State Prison. We are especially interested in our student body for they are our future Philharmonic Club. Last year we conducted a successful Chautauqua, which was an uplift and education to the city.
This year we are to have special days, which have been outlined. Some of them are: American Music Day, Opera Day, Wisconsin Composers, Autumn Music, Reciprocity or Wisconsin Day.
Each year we feel we are making progress in the broad fields of music.
The Monday Club--We are a literary club of fifteen members. The club has just ended its second year on the study of "Drama" and next year we will continue this subject. We can report a year of gratifying activity. We sent $5 to Dousman Home and Farm School, and responded with contributions to other calls. --Deborah HoffmanAcquisition
