Photograph, Central State, Main Entrance, Elster. What is now Dodge Correctional Institution has had many names over the years. Among them are: "Criminal Insane Hospital", "Central State", and the "Hospital for the Criminal Insane." Its function has changed from a Mental Hospital to the Reception Unit for all of the Wisconsin Correctional System. The published Waupun Histories has some history of these institutions.
