Postcard, City Hall, and Auditorium. There are numerious historical files about the City Hall and Auditorium. The building was built on the site of the Union Church (of Union-Congregational Church) and was completed in 1928. At that time it not only contained the City Offices and the Auditorium, but also contained the fire department. In 1985 the planning was started for the construction of the Safety Building. With the completetion of the Safety Building the fire department left the building and the city offices were moved downstairs. There is a more complete history in the 1989 Waupun History.
This is a very early photo postcard of the building. Notice the lights above the door and out front. Also notice the lack of landscaping and the wooden doors on the building.
