DIRECTOR May 28, 1965 Mr. Eugene Westra, President Waupun Historical Society 115 West Main Street Waupun, Wisconsin 53963 Dear Mr. Westra: The annual State Historical Society OPEN HOUSE OF HISTORY will again be held this year even though construction on the addition to the Society building will be in progress. The dates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; June 25, 26, and 27. The special State Society memberships for county and local historical societies offered in conjunction with the OPEN HOUSE since 1963 will be available to your members again this year. As you may recall, the special membership allows your members to deduct the cost of membership in your society from the cost of membership in the State Historical Society. Essentially this means that anyone who takes out a State Historical Society membership gets their local membership paid for. Please stress to your members, however, that they are not to send their local dues to us. They just subtract the local dues from the cost of the State Society membership selected and remit the difference as in the examples below. Annual State Historical Society membership $5.00 Minus local membership fee 1.00 Your cost for State Historical Society annual membership, only $4.00 OR Family membership in State Historical Society. $7.00 Minus local membership fee 1.00 Your cost for State Historical Society family membership, only $6.00 NOTE: If the membership fee of your society is more or less than $1.00, deduct the actual amount of your local membership fee up to a maximum of $2.00. This offer takes affect immediately and expires July 31, 1965. Please let me know how many membership blanks you will want this year and also let me know if you want them sent to the secretary or treasurer or anyone other than yourself. We will send you a placard on the membership offer for posting in your museum or society meeting place as soon as we receive them from the printer early in June. Sincerely, William J.
