Waupun growing: Body Joy Spa & Boutique, Masters of Movement School of Dance open
Body Joy Spa Boutique and Masters of Movement School of Dance are the two newest businesses to open in downtown Waupun.
Carol Derksen, a licensed esthetician, owns Body Joy Spa & Boutique, located at 9 Fond du Lac St. The spa offers facial care, makeup that is good for the skin, body treatments, paraffin hand treatments and waxing. A Fa-Red Infa Red Sauna is also available.
Annette Schimming, a licensed massage therapist, offers massages. Visit the boutique to find healthy coffee, gift baskets, jewelry, aromatherapy products and much more.
Body Joy Spa & Boutique is holding its grand opening on Nov. 17 from 10 am. to 2 p.m. For more information or to make an appointment, phone 920-960-5798.
Masters of Movement School of Dance, located at 13 Fond du Lac St., is owned by Holly Kent.
Masters of Movement has featured the art of dance in Wisconsin for 25 years. The school was founded in 1982 by a mother and daughter team. Now, Masters has made the move to educate and expand the hearts and minds of the children in Waupun.
Masters is built on the idea that family, community and knowledge of the arts and culture will cultivate young children into successful well-rounded adults. Many forms of dance are offered and dance attire is available.
The students will perform at the Avenue of Angels "Magic of Dance" recital, Wednesday Nov. 28, in the city hall auditorium. For more information about the school, phone 324-2438
The addition of these two businesses is evidence that the effort to revitalize Waupun's downtown district is having positive results. The City of Waupun's long-standing Businesses Improvement District (BID) offers businesses matching grants for façade and exterior improvements.
The recently created Community Development Authority (CDA) offers a number of programs to help facilitate the growth and improvement of existing and new businesses in downtown Waupun.
The CDA is also responsible for the placement of decorative planters and benches in the district. They also facilitated the removal of a condemned building in the district, replacing it with a park area to provide green space for downtown.
For more information on the city's programs for downtown revitalization, contact Gary Rogers, city administrator at 324-7919. Information can also be obtained by contacting the Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce at 324-3491.
