Service and Reproduction Fee Schedule

REFERENCE SERVICE
Researchers are urged to visit the Society and make their own selections from file prints. The section is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday except for major holidays.
The Society does provide a reference service which will indicate holdings on a specific subject and suggest areas for research. However, the reference staff cannot handle requests requiring extensive research. Upon request, we will provide a list of qualified local researchers.
I. ORDERING PRINTS
Please state intended usage. Mail requests are acceptable when specific details are supplied. If you have negative numbers from previous orders or research, please include them. Photocopies are helpful in locating specific prints. Selections made by the staff on either mail or telephone requests are considered final sales.
II. SERVICE RATE SCHEDULE FOR PRINTS
Unless otherwise specified prints will be furnished as 8 x 10 glossy contacts or enlargements. Negatives will not be supplied (except for photostats).

Conditions
1. All photo orders must be placed either in person, by mail, or if by telephone, confirmed by a written request. All shipments will be mailed 1st Class with the patron being billed for postage.
Any special handling or mailing instructions should be included at the time the order is placed. Do Not include payment with the order. An invoice will follow shipment. At that time, checks or money orders should be made payable to the State Historical Society of Wisconsin.
2. The Society will make prints only of materials in its collections and which, in the opinion of the head of the section holding custody, are properly available for duplication.
3. The Society does not sell duplicates but merely provides the service of copying. The fees paid are exclusively for such service.
4. At lease two weeks should be allowed for a photo order to be filled.
5. All responsibility for questions of copyright that may arise in this copying and in the use made of the copies, must be assumed by the user. Copyrighted material will not be reproduced beyond recognized "fair use" without the signed authorization of the copyright owner.
III. REPRODUCTION FEE SCHEDULE*
Reproduction in any medium requires specific written permission from Iconographic Collections of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. A TEAR SHEET OR COMPLIMENTARY COPY IS REQUIRED UPON PUBLICATION.
1. Scholarly or not-for-profit publications -- $5.00 charge for each picture used.
2. Standard editorial, trade text and magazine -- US WORLD
Reproduction in a trade book, textbook or magazine $10 $20 - one half page
Reproduction in a trade book, textbook or magazine $20 $40 - full page
Reproduction in a trade book, textbook or magazine $10 $20 - additional column
Reproduction in a trade book, textbook or magazine $25 cover or minimum jacket
Reproduction in predominantly picture books To be negotiated
3. Television, film, film strip -- to be negotiated.
4. Commercial Exhibition -- to be negotiated.
*NOTE: Reproduction fees are separate from, and in addition to, service charges for prints. All fees listed in this schedule are minimum fees. The Society recognizes that the specific circumstances of individual projects may need special treatment. In such instances a rate will be negotiated.
INFORMATION REQUIRED WITH ALL REQUESTS FOR REPRODUCTION USAGE

Type of rights required: U.S. and Canada or World rights.

In requesting rates and permission to use, please supply the following information:

5. Name of product to be advertised
6. Estimated date of release
7. Number of insertions
A rate will be quoted upon receipt of information.
